Colombo (Sri Lanka), July 15 (ANI): Sri Lankan Parliament Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywarden confirmed Gotabaya Rajapaksa's resignation from his Presidential post on July 15. “Yes, resignation has been accepted, legal process will follow. Members will be invited tomorrow (to elect a President),” he said. Embattled Gotabaya Rajapaksa on July 14 tendered his resignation to the Speaker of the Parliament. He fled the island nation with his spouse and two bodyguards on July 13. An economic collapse unleashed a massive uprising in the country. Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe was appointed as the interim President of Sri Lanka.
