Sri Lanka’s new President to be elected on July 20: SLPP MP

Colombo (Sri Lanka), July 15 (ANI): After Sri Lankan Parliament Speaker confirmed Gotabaya Rajapaksa's resignation from his Presidential post, SLPP MP informed that the new President will be decided upon on July 20. “We've decided on a schedule to select the next President. After receiving the nominations, a new President will be decided upon on Wednesday after voting,” he said. Embattled Gotabaya Rajapaksa on July 14 tendered his resignation to the Speaker of the Parliament. He fled the island nation with his spouse and two bodyguards on July 13.
