Srinagar(J&K), October 27 (ANI): “Shaurya Diwas” is an annual event commemorating the first civil-military victory of independent India organised by the Army in Srinagar. The event celebrates the triumph of the Indian Army and the local population in defending Srinagar against invading forces during the Indo-Pak War of 1947-48. A play was organised by the civilians in Srinagar with the help of the Indian Army to recreate the war scenes on stage along with other cultural exhibitions. “Shaurya Diwas” aims to pay tribute to the valiant efforts and sacrifices made by the Indian Army. It serves as a reminder of the courage, determination, and unity displayed during the conflict. It provides an opportunity for the local community to interact with the Army and express their gratitude for their services and sacrifices. It serves as a platform to educate the younger generation about the sacrifices made by their predecessors and instill a sense of pride and patriotism “We have all gathered here to celebrate Indian Army and Kashmir’s win over Pakistani forces during the time of Independence. We are here to celebrate the valor and sacrifices of the soldiers, because of whom we are still a part of India today,” said Lieutenant General Rajiv Ghai, GOC of 15 Corps.
