Srinagar hosts first-ever International Conference on Sufism

Srinagar (J&K), Jan 06, (ANI): Sher-i-Kashmir International Convention Centre (SKICC) on the banks of Dal Lake hosted the first-ever international conference on Sufism and Brotherhood. The Voice for Peace and Justice hosted the conference which was attended by religious experts and intellectuals from all over the world. The participants condemned extremism and prayed for peace and brotherhood. The conference which was planned for the benefit of the entire world community sought to re-establish ties between Kashmiri and Indian culture and the wider world through the Sufi spiritual teachings. Islamic scholars from more than 16 countries, including Germany, Turkey, France, Tanzania, Maldives, Switzerland and Sri Lanka joined their Indian counterparts during the event. The resurrection of Sufism in Kashmir was emphasized during the conference as the only means of imposing peace in the Valley which has been a flashpoint for strife and violence for decades.
