Study: How the cerebellum modulates our ability to socialise
Jun 18, 2022
New Delhi, June 18 (ANI): Dopamine in the cerebellum modulates social behaviour through its action on D2 receptors, the researchers said (D2R). The cerebellum is necessary for sensorimotor control, but also for higher cognitive functions such as social behaviour. Researchers from the Inserm - University of Montpellier (France), the Institut de Neurociencies UAB (Spain) and the University of Lausanne (Switzerland) have discovered a new role of dopamine in the mouse cerebellum as a modulator of social behaviour. These new findings pave the way for researchers to investigate whether socially related psychiatric disorders are also linked to impaired dopamine receptor expression in specific types of cerebellar cells.
