Tourism stakeholders gear up to boost autumn tourism in Kashmir

Srinagar, October 30 (ANI): As winter is about to make its arrival in the Valley, tour and travel operators gearing up to boost autumn tourism in Kashmir. The prominent operators of the valley held an annual general meet (AGM) in Srinagar aimed to take special steps for the promotion of autumn as well as winter tourism in the valley as they play a major role in attracting tourists. During the annual meet, prominent tourism players in collaboration with the Department of Tourism made a number of positive decisions about new future courses and increasing eco-tourism so that more and more tourists will visit at large scale during the autumn season and enjoy the mesmerizing beauty of the valley. The tourism industry is considered the backbone of the Kashmir economy and tourism players especially the Association of Kashmir Tour Operators (AKTO). For the last few years, the AKTO has been conducting annual meetings (AGM) aimed at attracting more and more tourists in all seasons towards the valley while showcasing their hospitality. Tourism players also consider that apart from Gulmarg, Pahalgam and Sonmarg new tourist destinations should be promoted. For the last two years, Kashmir Valley has received a record-breaking tourist influx and people belonging to this industry including tour and travel operators, hoteliers, houseboat owners, shikhara and taxi operators done good business.
