Tripura, Meghalaya are AFSPA free: Home Minister Amit Shah

Shillong (Meghalaya), December 18 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah are on a day visit to Meghalaya and Tripura, where foundation stones of several infrastructural projects would be laid. Addressing the audience at Golden Jubilee celebration of the Northeast, Amit Shah said, “Under PM Modi’s leadership, the northeast has gone ahead on the path of development. Peace has prevailed in the northeast. Earlier, a lot of demands were made to repeal AFSPA. Now, nobody needs to make demands. Staying two steps ahead, Govt is taking initiatives to repeal AFSPA.” He said, “In Assam, 60 per cent areas are AFSPA free. 15 police stations of Manipur are freed. In Nagaland, 7 districts are freed. Tripura and Meghalaya are completely out of it.”
