Unprecedented inflation shakes monthly budget of marginalised PoK natives

Nov 23, 2021

Muzaffarabad, PoK, 23 November 2021: - Even the most important markets of Muzaffarabad in Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) are wearing a deserted look with vendors and shopkeepers sitting idle for most of the days’ time. The reason is a massive spike in both wholesale and retail inflation over the past few weeks. The skyrocketing price of almost all the items has severely hit their domestic budgets. The local vegetable and fruit vendors say that because of high prices, people do not shop much—resulting in their huge losses. While a large number of people in the region were already reeling under the state of abject poverty, inflation has turned their life into a living hell. From gas cylinders to wheat flour to kitchen staple, everything has become expensive.
