“We are helpless..” Farmers begin Parali burning in Punjab, pollution to rise
Oct 07, 2022
Amritsar (Punjab), Oct 07 (ANI): Farmers in northwest Indian states started burning leftover paddy stubble to quickly clear their fields before planting wheat crops. Punjab farmers have begun Parali burning in Amritsar on October 07. Due to this Delhi is expecting another polluted winter. “Government claims that there is machinery to remove this, but we do not have it. We have little land & do not have resources to cut it out by ourselves. Burning it is the only measure that is possible,” said a local farmer. Every year, smoke from such farm fires veer over to Delhi and contributing to air pollution during winters.
