Jan 21, 2023
Jaipur, 21 January (ANI): Speaking on the achievement of Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India Limited (DFCCIL), N Srinivas, Director, Operations and BD, said, “We have already started the trucks on trains which are normally known as RORO traffic (roll on-roll off services). Also, we have started bringing certain road railers and swap body trailers. We will be hoping that as they catch up, we will have more and more non-conventional traffic coming to DFC. That will increase the rail share for Indian railways.” "We are now completing the alignments, every construction of it by December 2023 except some last patch. Once this is completed, we will look at the movements of the train from the eastern part, coal and other steel materials which go to the northern part of the country including Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan and NCR. We will find that movement happening in just one or one and a half day, which used to take about four to seven days. So, this speed is going to propel economic activity," he said. "Today the time to reach the port is not less than 7 to 10 days, it will be seeing a significant change. We will be able to travel from the UP hinterlands to western ports of Mumbai and Gujarat in just two days. That will revamp the entire logistics scenario. The change will revamp the entire logistics system." he added.
