Why do Kashmiris observe October 22 as “Black Day”?
Oct 25, 2022
Muzaffarabad, PoK / Rawalpindi, Pakistan / London, UK, 25 October 2022: - Few days after Pakistan was carved out of India in 1947, it dispatched armed irregulars and then regular troops to invade Kashmir. The Pakistan Army code-named the Kashmir mission as “Operation Gulmarg”. October 22 is observed as “Black Day” when thousands of Pathan raiders killed uncounted Kashmiri civilians, raped their women and destroyed property. On this day every year, the Kashmiris living in Pakistan-Occupied-Kashmir and abroad hold massive protests against Islamabad. They still recount the horror committed 75 years ago.
