Women’s Volleyball Tournament organized at Kashmir University after 11 years

Srinagar, November 03 (ANI): In a significant push for women empowerment, Srinagar-Kashmir University organised a four-day inter-North Zone women’s volleyball tournament from October 30 to November 2 after a gap of eleven years in which 35 universities across North India participated. The aim is to promote women's volleyball in the valley. During the four-day tournament, dozens of teams from different states of the country participated with full spirit and over 700 women athletes and officials took part in the event. For the promotion of sports culture in the valley, Kashmir University has always played a vital role in organising different sports activities at the north zone level around the year. But this is the first and biggest inter-north zone women's volleyball tournament organised by the Directorate of Physical Education and Sports University of Kashmir aimed to attract more and more girls to volleyball as such types of tournaments provide a platform to those female players who want to showcase their hidden talent on the national and international level. Such tournaments are good for cultural exchange as with the help of such types of initiatives sports tourism can be promoted. The participants who came here to take part in the tournament enjoyed it thoroughly and demanded that such types of big initiatives should be continued in future for the promotion of women's volleyball in the valley.
