Moscow mark 150th anniversary of famous entrepreneur ‘Diaghilev’

Moscow (Russia), Nov 08 (ANI/TV BRICS): To mark the 150th anniversary of the famous entrepreneur, 'Diaghilev, a Dress Rehearsal" opened an exhibition in Moscow. Sergey Diaghilev became one of the most important figures in the cultural history of the 20th century. He showed Russian ballet to the world and changed the art of theatre forever. The exhibition was prepared in just five months. In addition to items already on display in the Tretyakov Gallery, such as sketches, costumes, sets, and photographs of Diaghilev’s ballet performances, the public was presented with unique new items that have been added to the museum's collection in recent years. But right now, the halls of the gallery have 13 original stage costumes from the first ballets of Diaghilev’s seasons. and each one has a special place. Some of them are on mannequins; others lie neatly in the display case. A dress from "sacred spring" floats above the stage. Diaghilev strove to bring different, sometimes unexpected ideas to life. That was how "The Blue God" ballet appeared in the repertoire of the Russian seasons. It was based on the story of an Indian boy preparing to become a priest. The ballet costumes designed by Leo Bakst stunned the European public. The audience warmly welcomed the other ballets with oriental themes: "Scheherazade" and "Polovtsian Dances," which had not left the company repertoire for a long time. Several times, it also included the "nightingale song" ballet based on Andersen’s tale about a Chinese emperor.
