New Delhi, July 01 (ANI): As the three new criminal laws come into effect on July 01, Special Commissioner of Police, Training, Chhaya Sharma said that laws for cases will not be affected. She added that the sections of BNS (Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita) will be invoked for cases that will be registered from July 01. "...Earlier, everything (copy of FIR) was provided to the accused. But, the victim had to go from pillar to post to get their copy. Now, it has been made mandatory to provide a copy of the FIR to the victim...The chain of custody and maintainability of digital evidence will have to be properly mentioned in the chargesheet. This is something new that has been introduced, it will be accepted only if it is mentioned (in the chargesheet)... Now, no chargesheets can't be filed loosely, you will have to mention everything properly. So, it will be technically and digitally strong...The law doesn't function on retrospective effect. So, the law is that the old cases (registered earlier) will be dealt with under IPC and CrPC will be in effect (for those cases).
